Tarot Card Reading
Tarot card reading is perhaps the most popular form of divination. The birth of tarot cards can be traced back to Italy in the 15th Century where a card game called Triumphs was created. Triumphs was based on the common playing card deck but included a number of new cards with icons that we recognise in todays tarot decks such as the Wheel of Fortune. In the 18th Century the tarot cards were recognised as having divination properties by a Catholic Priest who's work laid the foundation for the tarot cards that we know today.
A.E. Waite based his tarot deck, Rider Waite, on the work undertaken by the priest in his first tarot deck published in 1896. Since then, there have been numerous tarot decks developed with many beautiful designs. The Rider Waite deck remains the most popular, though alternative decks such as Aleister Crowley's Thoth have risen in popularity. The tarot is fun to learn and practice. Many of our tarot decks come with instruction manuals to assist you.
The pictures on the cards are very important in tarot reading as they are the expression of the message that the higher consciousness is trying to convey to you so it is important to choose the tarot deck that holds the most fascination for you.
