New Age is not a single world view or a religion as it is perceived by a majority of its followers. You could say that it is an attempt at unifying all spiritual aspects of humanity into a coherent whole. Many of those who are interested in New Age perceives the universe as a unity, a coherent whole, a single organism whose parts are inextricably linked and influence each other.

The universe consists not of dead matter, it is not a soulless machine - and not random chance works - but it is of a dynamic, living and ever-creating intelligent consciousness. It is consciousness that is the universe's matter. New Age does not see the world as a something that God created outside himself, but rather that the universe creates itself with its own inherent intelligence. Everything that exists is considered to be manifestations of living spirit.

Theoretical physics and metaphysics have a tendency to blend together, according to some New Age thinkers. Physics today may support ideas about the essence of existence. The physicists have not found a minimum tangible element of reality. Instead, the matter will find the energy. For example, the American physicist Fritjof Capra emphasizes the similarities between Eastern mysticism and modern atomic physics.

New Age, Nature and Man

Like other aspects of the universe, nature is perceived as a whole, whose parts interact and influence each other. New Age is thus the ecological approach and believes that it must cooperate with nature, and be in compliance with its laws and not exploit and destroy it. Most consider use of renewable energy sources important. The earth's resources are not inexhaustible and they must be reused.

Man was not put on this world by chance, but is part of a plan for the development of life. She is in the bottom of her being the same spiritual substance as the universe itself. The individual human mind is like a drop of water in the ocean of infinite conciousness.

Our Earth is a wonderful place to live, and we humans may have created a good life. But we must work together, and we can, for deep down we understand each other. We are basically equal. We are not Americans, Greeks, Arabs - but one human family. We are neither employees, officials, priests, scientists - and not socialists, liberals or conservatives - but we are a family of people.
